Persons studied in the project
The early modern clercis whose biographies the students have studied for this project were members of the cathedral chapter in the Archbishopric of Mainz and attained the highest dignity within the cathedral chapter, that of cathedral provost, between 1650 and 1803. Initially, lay cathedral prebendaries were also included in the study, but the final focus of the project was on fourteen cathedral provosts who served between 1650 and 1800.
The names in the table below are linked to the data collected for each person in CSV format, which can be opened with any text editor, EXCEL or Google Sheets. To reuse our data in your own maps, you can download the same data in GeoJSON fromat from the GeoJSON layers directory. GeoJSON is a widely used format for encoding a variety of geographic data structures, such as point geometries, lines, and polygons. The GeoJSON files provided here can be loaded into a mapping tool such as QGIS to perform further spatial exploration and create new maps.
